Enjoy Wine Tasting close to the Simonstown Area
Many are not familiar with the wine tasting options when coming from the Simon's Town area. An article in the South African airways
magazine (April 2015) edition recently had a good article to provide our guests with more information. Please see below what SAA had to say:
"With only 10 farms along a compact, scenic route, Constantia offers time-pressed winelovers an intense, concise crash course on quality South African wines,
particularly terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc, fashionable white blends, bubblies (don't miss the MCCs made by Steenberg and Klein Constantia) and Bordeaux-style reds.
To avoid driving, a novel way to get arond is on board the City Sightseeing hop-on, hop-off Blue Mini-Peninsula tour (www.citysightseeing.co.za),
which includes a free passage through the Constantia Valley, stopping at three estates.
Besides well-established brands like Groot Constantia (www.grootconstantia.co.za), Klein Constantia (www.kleinconstantia.co.za)
and Steenberg (www.steenbergfarm.co.za), there's a crop of newer farms too.
Eagle's Nest (www.eaglesnestwines.com) offers laid-back, imaginative
picnics in a garden setting and has a solid track record for making
stellar Shiraz. Next door, combine lunch and a wine tasting on the
verandah at Constantia Glen (www.constantiaglen.co.za). Beau
Constantia's (www.beauconstantia.com) tasking room is a glass box with
a bird's eye view encompassing the valley, the Stenllenbosch mountains
and False Bay. The downstairs wine bar, serving estate wines, craft
beers and easy food, introduced a popup of Sushi Box
(www.sushiboxsa.com) this past summer."
